Garick and Monterey Mushrooms Are Proud to Announce Strategic Partnership
06/01/07
Garick, a nationwide distributor and processor of sustainable natural resource products, and Monterey Mushrooms, Inc. (Loudon, TN), the largest grower of fresh mushrooms in the United States, are excited to announce their newly formed strategic partnership. Garick will collect Monterey's spent mushroom compost and recycle it into organic lawn and garden products.Because of the increase in mushroom production, Monterey had a need for additional recycling of its spent mushroom compost, the compost used for growing the different types of mushrooms. To become more environmentally friendly and sustainable, Monterey partnered with Garick, an expert in taking organic waste products and turning them into beneficial and value-added products. With the finished, bagged product, Garick will service its retail lawn and garden customers in Tennessee and surrounding states.
Greg Sweet, General Manager of Monterey's Loudon, Tennessee facility, noted the importance of this strategic partnership. "Our mushroom growing operation has been involved in recycling agricultural products for 30 years. Garick now allows us to partner with a quality organization to complete the environmentally sustainable cycle and make our excellent mushroom compost available to the general public."
Gary Trinetti, President and CEO of Garick, says, "We are so excited to partner with Monterey Mushroom and strengthen our presence in the south. Monterey is a remarkable company with a fantastic team and we know they share in our mission of ‘enhancing people's lives and the environment®'."
